Program Description:

During this program you will have the opportunity to experience traditional Irish culture and explore the strong British influence on Northern Ireland. We investigate the centuries-old political conflict between Ireland and England, and focus on the recent conflict known as "the Troubles". With members of the struggle as your guides, you will move throughout Northern Ireland to get a first hand look at how the past impacts life today. Your evenings are spent working at local youth centers which gives you the opportunity to use your academic major to interact with the children of Belfast and engage in Irish culture throughout the country.

About GO Short Programs:
Through intentional programming, students make the most of their short-term study abroad on GO Short programs. You will study away with Susquehanna faculty/staff leading a small group of Susquehanna classmates, all of whom have participated in the program’s preparation (i.e. GO Prep) course in the semester prior to departure. After an intensive, active program, there is a reflection course for the program to optimize your cross-cultural learning. As these programs run during winter or summer breaks and are 2-6 weeks, they are great opportunities for students to study away without committing to a full semester.
