GYOW Transfer Credits
Steps to transfer credits when studying away through a GYOW program:
Step 1: Email or request a meeting with Monica Leitzel (Registrar’s Office).
Monica will determine if any of the courses you have chosen are pre-approved to transfer for major, minor, or Central Curriculum requirements. In addition, Monica will coordinate the evaluation of courses requested for Central Curriculum credit.(Please review the handbook for transferring Central Curriculum credits to understand what is necessary for each requirement.)
Step 2: Obtain department head approval(s) for your courses.
Contact the appropriate SU department head(s) for course approvals for requirements/credits that have not been pre-approved.You will need course descriptions or course syllabi. Department heads must initial and complete the “SU Equivalent or Requirement Column.” Emailed approval from department heads will also be accepted.
NOTE: All language courses need to be approved by the department of modern languages. This will ensure that you are enrolling in the correct language course based on placement, level, etc.
Step 3: Meet with your academic advisor.
Discuss which courses and requirements you should take during your time away. Obtain your advisor’s signature on your form during this meeting.
Step 4: Submit your completed form to Monica Leitzel (Registrar’s Office).
Monica’s office is in the lower level of Seibert Hall.
Important items to remember during your time away:
- When you arrive at your off-campus destination, you must confirm your schedule with the Registrar’s Office. If any of the courses were not previously approved, you must make arrangements to have them evaluated for transfer.
- Your degree audit is available on mySU to reference for graduation requirements. Grades of C- or higher are necessary to transfer your credits into Susquehanna.
- Grades do not transfer so your Susquehanna GPA will not be affected in any way
- We will transfer the number of credits that you earn for a course as they appear on the official transcript (ex: if you earn 3 credits for a course, we will transfer 3 credits – regardless of how the course was approved to transfer).
