UN Sustainable Development Goals and GO

UN SDG LogoOvercoming world-wide structural problems such as poverty, inequality, and the climate crisis requires global action. The United Nations launched the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in 2015 as a blueprint to create a healthy and prosperous planet for everyone by 2030. The SDGs are made up of 17 goals that span eradicating poverty and hunger to establishing gender equality and building sustainable cities. Each goal has a series of measurable targets and indicators to evaluate its success. More information about each goal and its progress can be found at sustainabledevelopment.un.org/sdgs. Countries, state and regional governments, businesses, and universities are organizing their efforts to align with the UN SDGs.

At Susquehanna, the GO Program offers the unique opportunity to have an immersive intercultural experience while examining how the SDGs are applied and implemented across the globe. Linking that intercultural experience with the UN SDGs opens one’s eyes to the possibilities of the future.

As you’re choosing your GO Program, check out this dashboard to see the progress of every country to meet the SDGs, dashboards.sdgindex.org. You can use the “advanced search” feature to search GO Short programs by the UN SDG. On GO Your Way and GO Long programs, you can identify and make progress on the goals through your experience.
